More Secrets
Presented by A Quilter's Lumberyard
More Secrets is a perfect project for the quilter who enjoys making a complex-appearing quilt with quick, simple construction. Use only 2 x 8s and 1 x 8s cut from interesting fabrics, and an adaptation of Mary Ellen Hopkins technique to create the unique More Secrets blocks. We used ombré fabrics to make More Secrets class samples. Ombré fabrics are graduated in tone from one selvage to another or sometimes from the selvages to the center. Ombré fabrics are great, but not required for this project. Many other fabrics create interesting design options in this pattern (i.e. stripes, polka dots, bright and bold prints). Using 2 ½” x 8½” strips, 1 ½” x 8 ½” strips, and simple block construction, you will:
· determine the number of blocks needed for the size of your project.
· consider fabric options for the look you want to achieve in this project.
· construct blocks, using demonstrated techniques.
· decide on a layout and sew the blocks together.
· complete the quilt
with the addition of borders, backing, quilting, and binding.
