Collection of Kites
Presented by A Quilter's Lumberyard
Pre-requisites: Not recommended for beginners. Familiarity with Quilter’s Lumberyard® Intro & Quilt Gallery plus Construction Zone Workshop is helpful.
Kite shapes in quilt blocks provide intriguing design opportunities and the templates work easily with the Quilter’s Lumberyard 4½“ “raw lumber” strips. Block designs vary from simple to intricate, and the secondary designs that happen when blocks come together are a win-win for creativity. Join us to experience the exciting options of this great tool. Go home with a rich variety of sample blocks -- stars, spinners, darts, diamonds, chains, and spiders – as you incorporate the kite shape into your Lumberyard quilts. Use kite blocks alone or, for more fun, mix in with other Lumberyard blocks.
In this class you will:
- use kite and side unit templates to cut shapes from 4 ½” “raw lumber” for 6 different quilt blocks.
- develop awareness of how value placement achieves design elements.
- view and discuss alternative kite block designs demonstrated in class samples
$10 kite template will be purchased from instructor at the start of class
