A Quilters Lumberyard Presents: Accordion Kindling
Do you have a collection of strips that are 2” or less in width? Are you tempted to toss them because it is difficult to find a suitable project for those strips?
If you focus only on the overall VALUE
of those strips – and sort them into sets that generally read light, medium,
or dark – you can create a fun quilt project that provides the illusion of
layers and depth.
In this class you will:
· sort your trimmed variable-width strips (2” or less) into dark, medium, and light stacks.
· review the strip set sewing process to prevent “bowing”.
· sew several strips sets for each value (light, medium, and dark).
· Use a 6” x 24” ruler with 60 degree markings to make the appropriate cuts from each strip set.
· arrange the cuts as directed to create the illusion of accordion folds.
