Always on the lookout for fun and interesting ideas that use “kindling” strips, this layout caught my eye. The project also provides dimensional intrigue created with VALUE and COLOR variations. Working with darks, mediums, and lights in a color family supplies opportunities to practice the “value” of Value in achieving contrast. My Quilter’s Lumberyard partner, Cheryl, always reminds me that Color is what draws you in for a closer look, but it is Value that does all the work. Careful positioning of darks, mediums, and lights is a skill worth developing. After completing this project, I am even more convinced that Cheryl is right.
Pre-requisite for this class:
Intermediate level quilting experience preferred. Experienced beginners, check with instructor or staff.
Experience with Quilter’s Lumberyard program is helpful.
