A 60° ruler and 2 ½” raw lumber strips are all you need to create Tangled Lumber, (also known as Entangled Sky), an unusual and deceptively easy quilt. Three distinct light, medium, and dark values interact with each other in the construction of two different blocks. The excitement happens when an interwoven 3-D effect emerges where the two blocks connect (all without Y seams – yay!). Consider scrappy, rainbow, floral, or modern, lots of fabrics or few fabrics.
- Choose fabric sets of light, medium, and dark values and prepare 2 ½” raw lumber strips.
- Cut fabric sets for the two different blocks.
- Using partial seam construction, sew the prepared block sets.
- Complete block layout for quilt design.
